On July 1, 2024, Meredith Lewallen Roberts (07C) began a two-year term as president of the Berry Alumni Council, spearheading the committed group of elected alumni who serve their alma mater in such areas as alumni engagement, financial support, heritage and historic preservation, and alumni recognition.
At
its heart, the group works to foster a mutually beneficial community between
Berry and its alumni.
The
new leadership position, which includes concurrent service on Berry's Board of
Trustees, is the latest step in Roberts' journey of engagement that began nearly
a decade after she received her Berry degree.
"I
did not immediately get involved as an alum," she reflected. "I was unaware of
how alumni could engage with the college until I attended a meet-and-greet in
Chattanooga with the then-new dean of the Campbell School of
Business."
That
meeting opened the door to additional involvement with Berry and to building
greater connections with fellow alumni. Now she encourages other alumni to consider
how they can become engaged with Berry.
"Berry
has had such a profound impact on me, both personally and professionally," she
related. "I love that I can pay it forward through service on the Alumni
Council."
She
added that "a great way to get involved with our alma mater" includes participating
in events like Mountain Day or Alumni Weekend or attending Berry sporting
events.
