5 Reasons You Can't Miss Mountain Day

Mountain Day is just around the corner, and we're excited to welcome our Berry family home for the weekend of Oct. 4-6! Whether you've been coming for years or it's your first time, you're in for a treat!

Haven't finalized your plans yet? No worries!

Here are the top five reasons you just can't miss this Mountain Day weekend!

1.	Tried-and-true traditions

Imagine a perfect fall day on Mountain Campus, surrounded by friends and family, celebrating in style like Martha Berry and her students first did in 1914.

Watch today's Berry's students celebrate each other and our founder as they participate in the Grand March, donating pennies for their peers.

The weekend is alive with traditions old and new, from Friday's gold scramble to milestone reunions throughout the weekend to Sunday's chapel services.

Check out the full schedule to find your favorite places to connect!

2. Fun for all ages!

Mountain Day is the ultimate family-friendly affair, and there's something for everyone to enjoy! We love to see alumni bring their families to the mountain where young future Vikings can enjoy the inflatable games, take a stroll by Swan Lake or just explore the wide-open spaces and meet new friends. Kids can finish off their adventures with delicious ice cream—although mom, dad, grandma and the whole family are welcome to enjoy that post-picnic treat, too!

Speaking of the picnic, we're saving a spot in front of Pine Lodge for the class of 1974 as they celebrate their 50th reunion weekend (along with our friends from The Spires).

And don't forget Marthapalooza! This newer tradition has a family hour that's perfect for faculty, staff and alumni with kids and younger family members (ages 5-12). Grab your tickets (just $5 per person) and make some memories!

3. Talented Berry students

Our students work hard year-round, and Mountain Day is the perfect time to see their talents shine!

Enjoy listening to the Berry College Wind Ensemble at the picnic and the Berry Singers at Sunday's chapel service. Or you can take in the Berry College Theatre Company's production of The 39 Steps at Sisters Theatre. Just be sure to buy a ticket for the theatre production in advance; they sell out fast!

The Mountain Day market features products from our Berry Student Enterprises like farm-fresh eggs, beef, cheese, veggies, hand-made textiles, soap and candles. Plan on swinging by and being amazed at these wares produced by these student-run businesses, our entrepreneurial students and some of our other friends.

And remember to bring your best Berry spirit and cheer for our Vikings at their home games! Football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball all play at home this Mountain Day weekend.

4. Amazing Berry history

How do you make a tradition that dates back 120 years even better? By embracing the feel of historic Berry!

Take a step back in time with a free open house at Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum on Saturday afternoon.

Don't forget to head out to the Old Mill to watch the cornmeal grinding demonstration. Cornmeal will be available for purchase, so you can take a taste of Berry history home with you!

Or you can hop on a shuttle up to the House o' Dreams before, during or after the picnic, but be sure to reserve your spot online! Those shuttles fill up fast.

5. Because it's a Berry thing to do

Mountain Day is more than just Martha's birthday; it's a time to come together and celebrate the bonds that make Berry such a special place.

Whether you're a recent graduate or attended Berry decades ago, this is your chance to reconnect with the Berry family and have fun commemorating those cherished traditions.

So, what are you waiting for?

Dust off your picnic blanket, gather your friends and family, and come celebrate Mountain Day with us.

We can't wait to see you there!
